LANSING, MI -- The Michigan Agri-Business Association handed out several special awards during its annual winter conference this past week. BASF was named MABA's Outstanding Manufacturer/Supplier, and John Cnudde was honored as its Outstanding Member, as well as being presented a plaque in appreciation for his service as Chair of the MABA Board of Directors in 2011.

BASF, and the agricultural team members who represent the company in Michigan have helped develop new programs for MABA, always been supportive of the Association and pushed the Association to continually provide more value for members. When many in the Association talked about providing more applicator training, this company stepped forward and provided leadership to get it done, both during the Winter Conference and helping create the new Applicator Rodeo. Paul Rea, BASF's leader of their Americas agricultural business, was also a featured speaker during the MABA conference.
John Cnudde with CPS was the recipient of MABA's 2011 Outstanding Member award and never hesitates to offer help, get involved or share his experience in the industry with those who ask.
"John is a credit to our industry, the Association and CPS where he has worked for many, many years," said MABA President Jim Byrum. "John isn't flashy or loud, but just gets the job done, and has been instrumental in making sure that this Association is one of the strongest in the nation. He never hesitates to ask for the unexpected, and usually gets it done."
Cnudde was also presented a plaque in recognition of his service as Chair of MABA's Board of Directors in 2011. Jim Howe, with Star of the West Milling and incoming Chair of the MABA Board, lauded Cnudde for his service.
"On behalf of the Association, and all our members, I want to thank you for your leadership, and all that you have done for this organization, as a Board member, Chair and a solid, supporting member of the Association," said Howe.
Pat Anderson, CEO with the Cooperative Elevator Co., Jim Zook with Ethanol Concepts and Mike McCrackin with Harvey Milling were recognized for their contribution to the association during their tenures on the Board of Directors.
Wade Blowers with CHS, David Gloer with POET and Ron Balzer with Auburn Bean and Grain joined the MABA Board during the annual meeting of the association. In addition to these new board members, Howe was elected Chair of the Board, John Stefanelli with The Andersons was selected as the First Vice Chair and Bruce Sutherland with MAC will serve as Second Vice Chair.
