PETTISVILLE, OH -- On April 13, FFA members bagged trees in Agriculture classes for the Fulton County Soil and Water Conservation District. Every first grader in Fulton County received one of these trees on Arbor Day.This teaches first graders to care for the environment.

Seven FFA members attended the District 1 FFA banquet and officer training at Four County Career Center in Archbold, OH, on April 16th.Hannah Meller was recognized for her proficiency awards in Agriscience Research- Integrated and Equine Science.She also tied for 1st place in the district for her secretary book rating.Dustin Nofziger was also recognized for his gold rated treasure book.Several Pettisville FFA members were recognized for Career Development Events (CDEs).Theses members were Jacob Dennis, Jacob Myers, Hannah Meller, and Justin Nofziger.The Pettisville Equine Management Team was first in the district and the Urban Soils team was fourth in the district.Pettisville graduate, Chrysta Beck, received the 2015 Hummel Scholarship.

Several Pettisville FFA members took Career Development Event tests to compare their knowledge of a specific agricultural career area to that of FFA members across the state of Ohio.Jacob Dennis, Hannah Meller, and Mikayla Crouch took the Farm Business Management Test and place 3rd in the district and 13th in the state.Matthew Krill, Joshua Cerda, Andrew Sauder, and Kyle Lantz were the top scorers for the Ag Technical and Mechanical Systems test and placed 2nd in the district and 11th in the state.The freshmen took the Greenhand Quiz to test their knowledge about FFA.The top four students were Gretchen Lee, Jordan Skates, Jacob Myers, and Elizabeth Sauder.They placed 5th in the district.Five Pettisville FFA members competed at the District 1 Envirothon on April 22nd at Camp Palmer to test their knowledge of the environment.They placed 38th.
