ARCHBOLD, OH -- Again this year a special craft program will allow guests to be inspired by the creativity of talented craftsmen throughout the winter at Sauder Village. From February through mid-April artisans will present free craft demonstrations on Saturdays from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Sauder Village Welcome Center.
“If you miss watching our spinner, broom maker and other craftsmen at work, you’re sure to enjoy our free Craft Saturday programs planned this winter at Sauder Village,” shared Kim Krieger, PR/Media Relations Specialist. “We look forward to having guests join us for these free demonstrations and some great shopping and dining as well!”
Craft demonstrations will vary each week throughout the winter. The demonstrations planned in February include making Native twined bags on Feb. 13. Later in the month guests can watch Kumihimo braiding on Feb. 20 and finger weaving on Feb. 27.
March craft demonstrations include quilling, rug hooking, bobbin lace making and spinning. Early in April guests can learn more about knitting, penny rugs and Kumihimo braiding. A complete schedule of programs is posted online at www.saudervillage.org.
In addition to the free Craft Saturday Demonstrations, Sauder Village also offers many unique classes and special events throughout the year. The Winter/Spring Class Schedule is available online and includes everything from broom making, cooking and quilting to gardening and making a penny rug. Other upcoming events planned at Sauder Village include the Bridal Show on Sunday, March 6 and the Toledo Symphony Orchestra Concert on Thursday, March 10. The Historic Village will open for the 2016 season on Tuesday, April 26 with the 40th Annual Quilt Show in Founder’s Hall. Other early spring events include Spring on the Farm on May 14 and the Antique Car Gathering on Saturday, May 21.
While the Historic Village may be closed for the winter, the Shops at Sauder Village offer unique shopping opportunities year round! Throughout the winter the Gift Shop and Threads of Tradition Quilt Shop are open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Items from Lauber’s General Store are available by request (stop by the Gift Shop). While at Sauder Village guests may also want to visit the Sauder Store and Outlet, enjoy a meal at the Barn Restaurant and pick-up some sweet treats from the Doughbox Bakery. Many great packages are also available throughout the winter at the Sauder Heritage Inn including a new “2 for 1 Winter Senior Special” as well as a romantic get-away, spring break and Easter packages.
