NorthStar Cooperative, Inc. selected Doug Moyer as NorthStar’s director of DHI Services effective March 6.

In this role, Moyer is responsible for directing a staff of over 95 employees as well as two milk analysis laboratories located in Grand Ledge, Mich., and Appleton, Wis.

“Doug’s ability to think outside of the box and his passion for NorthStar is evident in the success we have experienced during his various leadership roles,” said Mark Adam, NorthStar’s general manager.

“I’m truly excited for the future of NorthStar’s DHI program under the supervision of Doug. He has a goal of driving DHI toward a new and stronger position in the dairy industry, and we know he has the leadership and support staff to build on NorthStar’s existing strengths.”

Moyer is no stranger to NorthStar or the dairy industry with over eleven years of experience in the A.I. and DHI industries. Moyer joined the NorthStar team in 2008 as a reproductive specialist, where he effectively established a new sales and service area in Missaukee county, growing it to a profitable level of revenue in less than 12 months. In 2010, Moyer began working as an electronic activity monitoring system specialist and dairy reproductive analysist, in addition to his role as reproductive specialist.

In 2012, Moyer was selected as an account team leader for NorthStar’s Northern Michigan team. In this position, Moyer was responsible for coaching, training and mentoring a group of 18 employees representing all of NorthStar’s business areas.

Emphasizing the improvement of efficiencies and profitability, Moyer helped his team grow sales and expand services to new areas.

Moyer received many awards during this time including recognition as NorthStar’s 2012 Super Achiever and Select Sires’ 2012 Electronic Heat Detection Specialist of the Year.

NorthStar is a stock based cooperative, owned by dairy and beef producers in Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin. Originally formed in 1944 as an artificial insemination cooperative, NorthStar is now comprised of sales and service for Select Sires, Ag Products and Technologies, DHI Services, as well as Antel BioSystems, a research group dedicated to developing and implementing innovative diagnostic solutions for the animal industry. Based in Lansing, Mich., NorthStar provides sales and service to producers, veterinarians and industry members across the United States.
