Ohio FFA Alumni convention delegates gather in Columbus
COLUMBUS, OH -- Char and Chris Lee and John and Lexie Poulson of the Pettisville FFA Alumni Affiliate served as official delegates at the 44th Ohio FFA Alumni Convention held in Columbus, OH, on Feb. 20. The FFA Alumni Association is an organization that supports and serves agricultural education programs and the FFA in Ohio and across the nation.
FFA Alumni delegates, representing over 90 affiliates, were present to conduct the business of the almost 4000 member Ohio FFA Alumni Association. Besides business and updates, a Silent Auction and a Basket Contest with Auction were conducted to raise money for FFA scholarships and leadership projects.
During the meeting Cathy Nofziger was recognized as an Ohio Alumni Achievement finalist and the Pettisville affiliate received 2nd place in the Agricultural Promotional Award area for conducting a parent’s meeting last fall. The alumni officers went through alumni items and explained FFA activities.
The Pettisville Affiliate is over 180 members strong and conducted the following activities this past year: Pumpkin Festival, Hog Roast, Washington Leadership Conference and state and national convention support. They have assisted the chapter is various activities throughout the year. They also awarded high school and college scholarships along with Supervised Agricultural Experience monetary awards.
FFA Alumni Affiliates were formed to operate in support of the over 7,757 local chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The National FFA Alumni Association is an organization of more than 53.585 active members all part of 1,400 active Alumni affiliates.
Their purpose is to help today's agricultural youth by joining together in a united volunteer effort to assist FFA, promote a greater knowledge of the agricultural industry, and support education in local agricultural education programs.
