Basin Angus Ranch to donate heifer package

JOLIET, MT -- The Angus Foundation is pleased to announce Doug and Sharon Stevenson, Basin Angus Ranch of Joliet, MT, are donating the heifer that will anchor the Angus Foundation Heifer Package.

“It is an honor for our family at Basin Angus Ranch to donate the Angus Foundation heifer,” Doug Stevenson said. “To represent our program, we are selecting an elite heifer calf from the very top of our herd with the combination of data and phenotype we are striving to produce.”

The Angus Foundation Heifer Package will be auctioned Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, during the National Western Stock Show (NWSS) in Denver, Colo.

“We are immeasurably humbled to have such an outstanding and progressive Angus breeder as nationally recognized as Basin Angus Ranch donating this year’s heifer,” said Milford Jenkins, Angus Foundation president. “We’re confident that, once again, the Angus community will have an incredible opportunity to purchase leading Angus genetics in this elite heifer, while simultaneously generating funds for educational, research and youth activities advancing the Angus breed.”

Doug Stevenson has been a lifelong Angus breeder. Basin Angus Ranch had its beginnings in 1972, when Doug’s parents, Wayne and Marian Stevenson, ventured out from the original family Angus operation. Doug served on the National Junior Angus Board (NJAB) from 1984 to 1986. After college, Doug and Sharon returned to the ranch full-time. Their children are the fourth generation to be actively involved in producing top quality Angus cattle.
