Hillsdale CD to host bee workshop

HILLSDALE, MI -- The Hillsdale Conservation District will be hosting a Honeybee Workshop on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 from 6-9:30 p.m. The workshop will take place at the Perennial Park Senior Center 320 W. Bacon St. Hillsdale, MI 49242. Registration and Spaghetti dinner will begin at 6 p.m., with Welcome and Introductions from the Hillsdale Conservation District at 6:30 p.m.

Hillsdale MAEAP Technicians Allison Dauer and Jacob Bildner will give a brief overview of the Michigan GAAMP’s Pesticide Utilization and Pest Control Overview, and Linda Kline will give an update on Pollinator Habitat Financial Assistance and programs offered through the USDA.

At 7 p.m., Napoleon Bee Supply owner Steve Clark will give an overview of common apiary equipment used and Honeybee biology or “Beekeeping 101.” The night will wrap up around 9:30 p.m. with RUP Credits (pending) and MAEAP Phase 1 Credits. Local vendors will also be available throughout the evening.
