Cass County Fair celebrates 166 years with full lineup
CASSOPOLIS, MI -- The Cass County Fair will be held July 30-August 5, 2017, celebrating 166 years of family fun, food and entertainment! A few highlights of the week include Superkickers Extreme Bulls & Barrels rodeo, Monster Trucks, SJO Motocross and country music artist Caroline Kole.

The fun begins on Friday, July 28th, with the 4-H dog show and light horse driving classes. On Saturday, July 29th, Open Class, Home Arts and Fine Arts exhibits will be entered and 4-H and youth non-livestock exhibit judging will take place. The King & Queen/Prince & Princess contests will be held at 7 PM in the grandstand, concluding with the crowning of the 2017 Cass County Fair royalty.
Official opening day of the fair is Sunday, July 30th, with free gate admission. 4-H livestock will arrive earlier in the day. The draft horse pulls will be held in the Grandstand at 11 AM, and the Youth Still Exhibit Auction will take place at 2:30 PM in the Community Building. The Grand Opening/Parade begins at 5 PM led by the 2017 Grand Marshal, Bonnie McCarthy. The Grandstand will then be cleared prior to the Street Legal Pickup Truck & Semi Tractor pulls at 7 PM (seats are only $2).
Monday, July 31 - Veterans’ Day – free admission with ID. 4-H shows including Dairy, Horse & Pony, Sheep and Dairy Feeder Steers will take place throughout the day. The carnival opens at 5 PM. Mega passes are available for the week (3 days for $35 or 6 days for $50) and can be purchased online at http://elliottsamusements.com/ or at the fair office. Preliminaries for Cass County’s Got Talent begin at 7 PM, and the fun in the grandstand kicks off with Superkicker’s Extreme Bulls & Barrels featuring DeWayne Spaw at 7 PM.
Tuesday, August 1 – Kiddie’s Day – children 6-12 admitted free. The Farm & Antique Tractor Pull start the festivities in the grandstand at 9 AM. Horse & Pony, Swine and Draft Horse Cart & Obstacle classes are scheduled during the day. The carnival will open at 2 PM every day for the rest of the week until Saturday, and the NTPA Regional National Truck & Tractor Pulls will begin in the grandstand at 7 PM.
Wednesday, August 2 – Law Enforcement Day – officers admitted free with ID. The 4-H shows continue with Horse & Pony, Beef, Rabbits, Goats and Draft Horses. Country music singer, songwriter and guitarist Caroline Kole will be featured at 7 PM in the grandstand (free admission).
Thursday, August 3 – Senior Citizen’s Day – seniors 60+ receive $1 off admission. The Youth Pony and Poultry shows will be held on Thursday, and the Youth Market Livestock Auction will begin at 10 AM in the show arena. The featured event in the grandstand for the evening will be the Demolition Derby, beginning at 7 PM. This fan favorite event will feature wagons, sedans, 2WD trucks, vans, suburbans, mini trucks, mini vans and cars.
Friday, August 4 – Homemaker’s Day – free admission for homemakers until 9:30 AM. Many events are scheduled for the day, including the Youth Horse & Pony show, Goat show, Youth Livestock Judging, Pedal Pull, Ag Olympics, the Small Animal Sweepstakes, Showmanship Sweepstakes and more! The Cass’s Got Talent competition wraps up with the finals at 7 PM. SJO Motocross will be the main event in the grandstand at 7 PM.
Saturday, August 5 – Family $ Day - $1 admission from noon to 6 PM. The Youth Small Animal Auction begins at 9 AM, and more 4-H Horse and Pony and Draft shows will be held. The carnival opens at noon on Saturday, and all rides are $1 from noon to 6PM. Adult Alumni Horse Showmanship and Adult Alumni Dairy Showmanship fundraisers will be held during the afternoon. The fair will wrap up festivities with the crowd pleasing Monster Trucks show in the grandstand at 7 PM.
Free daily grounds entertainment shows feature Nick’s Kids Show with shows at 2, 4 and 6 PM, Pets Overboard with shows at 2:30, 5 and 7 PM, and the Wild World of Animals with shows at 3:30, 6 and 8 PM. There will be lots of fun and exciting exhibits at the fair, along with numerous vendors and fair food available daily from 11 AM to 10 PM. Come join in the fun!
