Field day at Northeast Purdue Ag Center set for Aug. 24
COLUMBIA CITY, IN -- The Northeast Purdue Agricultural Center (NEPAC) in Columbia City is hosting a field day to share practical knowledge with farmers on Thursday Aug. 24. Presentations at the field day include the following:
• “Assessing Soybean Growth Factors and Yield Potential” Shaun Casteel, Agronomy Dept., Purdue University
• “Updates on Managing Problem Weeds and Herbicide Resistance” Bill Johnson, Botany and Plant Pathology Dept., Purdue University
• “Soil and Tissue Sampling to Monitor Nutrients and Plant Health” Jamie Bultemeier, Agronomist, A&L Great Lakes Laboratories, Fort Wayne, IN
• Spray Performance: Effects of Water Quality and Adjuvants” Crystal Van Pelt, Extension Educator—Steuben County
Check-in for the field day begins at 8 a.m. and the program starts at 8:30 a.m. The field day ends with a lunch provided by area agri-businesses, the Indiana Corn Marketing Council and the Indiana Soybean Alliance. NEPAC is located at 4821 E. 400 South, Columbia City.
Pre-register by calling the Purdue Extension ¬– Huntington County office at 260-358-4826 by Aug. 21. The event is free but there is a $10 fee for those seeking continuing education credits for the Private Applicator Recertification Program. Farmers should bring their pesticide applicator cards for registration. Commercial applicator (Category 1) and crop advisor recertification credits have been applied for.
