Northeast Indiana Local Food Forum set for March 18

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN -- The Northeast Indiana Local Food Network has teamed up with Purdue Extension Allen County and members of the local Food Council to host the 2019 Northeast Indiana Local Food Forum on March 18, 2018 at the Walb Union Classic Ballroom on the Purdue-Fort Wayne campus.
Join consumers, farmers, chefs and other food professionals, community leaders, aspiring food entrepreneurs, and advocates for local food and healthy food access for this fun, informative and interactive event intended to celebrate and strengthen connections within our expanding local food community. Come for the whole day or join the celebration after work!
The Local Food Forum will open with a keynote address by Debra Tropp, entitled, “Harvesting Opportunity: Why Local Food is a Vital Part of Thriving Communities” Debra spent 26 years with the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service.
Attendees will choose from eight different breakout sessions for opportunities to learn from and interact with local experts. Lightning Talks will share information about opportunities to collaborate, and attendees can visit Forum Exhibitors. A lunch made with locally-sourced ingredients is included.
During the Social Hour (3-5 p.m.), Forum attendees and guests arriving in the late afternoon can learn more about local initiatives and businesses, and mingle with local food producers, professionals and consumers while they enjoy light local refreshments.
The Local Food After Party will kick-off at 5 p.m. and run until 7 p.m. Join MC Greg Gunthorp as we toast our local scene! Guests can meet their favorite local chefs and producers while enjoying samples of their latest creations. Interactive demos by local chefs and butchers, live music and cash bar featuring local brews, wines and kombuchas will make this celebration a not-to-be-missed event.
