2021 Anthony L. Rapes Memorial/Huron County Dairy Promotions scholarship winners announced
BAD AXE, MI. – Eight area students have recently been selected by the Anthony L. Rapes Memorial/Huron County Dairy Promotions Board of Trustees to be added to the elite list of Anthony L. Rapes Memorial/Huron County Dairy Promotions Scholarship winners. Local students receiving the 2021 scholarships are Makaylie Gilbert, Leah Irion, Morgan Klosowski, Hunter Langley, Erin McCarty, Jenna Pfeilstucker, Jane Siemen, and Joseph Weiss.
Makaylie Gilbert is the daughter of Chad and Theresa Gilbert of Filion. She will be attending Michigan State University Institute of Agriculture Technology majoring in Agriculture Industries. Makaylie attends Bad Axe High School and is actively involved in the Bad Axe FFA program. She is also a current member of 4B’s 4-H Club.
Leah Irion is the daughter of Lonnie and Susie Irion of Pigeon. She will be attending Michigan State University majoring in Animal Science. Leah attends Laker High School where she is actively involved in the Laker FFA program. She is a past member of the Laker 4-H Club.
Morgan Klosowski is the daughter of Matthew Klosowski and Kristi Ruth of Elkton. She will be attending Michigan State University majoring in Crop and Soil Sciences. Morgan attends Bad Axe High School and is actively involved in the Bad Axe FFA program. She is also a current member of 4B’s 4-H Club.
Hunter Langley is the son of Kevin and Shelley Langley of Bad Axe. He plans to attend Delta College majoring in Diesel Technician. Hunter attends Bad Axe Ascent High School where he is actively involved in the Bad Axe FFA program. He is also a current member of Beef-N-More 4-H Club.
Erin McCarty is the daughter of Jason and Carol McCarty of Ubly. She plans to attend Delta College majoring in Animal Science/Pre-Vet. Erin attends Ubly Community High School and is actively involved in the Ubly FFA program. She is also a current member of Growing Go-ers 4-H Club.
Jenna Pfeilstucker is the daughter of Christine and Les Volmering of Harbor Beach and Scott Pfeilstucker of Port Hope. She plans to attend Saginaw Valley State University majoring in Agriculture Education. Jenna attends Harbor Beach Community High School where she is actively involved in the Harbor Beach FFA program. She is also a current member of Country Corners 4-H Club.
Jane Siemen is the daughter of Teresa and Roland Siemen of Harbor Beach. She plans to attend Michigan State University majoring in Animal Science. Jane attends Harbor Beach Community High School where she is actively involved in the Harbor Beach FFA program.
Joseph Weiss is the son of Les and Linda Weiss of Port Hope. He plans to attend Central Saginaw Valley State University majoring in Farm Business Management. Joseph attends North Huron High School and is actively involved in the North Huron FFA program. He is a past member of the Harbor Hobbies 4-H Club.
The Anthony L. Rapes/Huron County Dairy Promotions Board of Trustees is pleased to award scholarships to these outstanding individuals who are continuing their education in an agricultural area. The scholarships are sponsored by the Anthony L. Rapes Memorial/Huron County Dairy Promotions Scholarship Fund.
Anthony L. "Tony" Rapes was an agricultural agent in Huron County with Michigan State
University Extension for 15 years until the time of his death in 1980. The scholarship has awarded $78,300 since 1981 to Huron County young people pursuing an occupation in agricultural related field.
